A tip of the cap to the 2024 schedule-makers. I checked all five age divisions and the schedules are up for each.
So, read on and dream, guys. Season starts in a little more than a week. For me, it will be my twenty-fifth.
In the past, the schedule-makers included Tim Brown, Harold Jenkins and, if memory serves, Don Wixon and John Reel.
I wouldn't be surprised if these fellows returned to the plate for another round. I imagine, too, there were other contributors.
It's not easy work putting a schedule together, and here, it's five schedules, not one. It takes than a few hours and lots of thought.
So big thanks to everyone who did that.
One complaint, though, and it has nothing to do with the scheduling.
Some fellow, don't know if he's in the league, with the signed name of Mason Jones, copied and lifted Jim Edelman's really fine write-up of his Arachnids' title victory game to advertise some "human growth hormone" for sale.
I'm glad more people got to read Jim's story, which included some thoughtful and caring lines about the passing of John Newman and about the Archnids' foe, the Yankees, but adding a sales pitch at the end (for who knows how healthy a product) sullies Jim's effort. It's a kind of thievery.
There are roughly 700 players in our five age divisions and most of us work at jobs that could probably use some free advertising. But most of us don't write about our work because we keep our baseball playing and our work separate.
When we do write about that work, and we do it with the league's allowance, we keep it short and separate. You want to peddle your stuff, Mr. Jones, then post a separate entry. Don't steal the work of others.
