Twins Bow

The Twins ended their 2019 season with an 11-2 loss to the Dodgers last night at Schenectady Babe Ruth Field. For whatever reason, the Dodgers had the Twins number this year. Pitcher Mark Denicola did a good job keeping the Twins from scoring many runs, although he did give up 9 hits. Dodgers outfielders threw out 2 Twins base runners in the top of the second to put a lid on a scoring threat. It was Dodgers 3-0 into the bottom of the 4th when they were able to score 6 runs and put the game out of reach. The Dodgers now move on to the final tier of the playoffs as the #6 seed.

The Twins finished with a record of 9-9, improving from 7-8-3 in 2018 and 5-11 in 2017, and 1-15 in 2016. We had a lot of fun and will continue to reach for the stars in the future. Half a league, half a league, half a league forward. Thats the plan.

A special thanks to the many class act guys, of whom there are quite a few, from the other 9 teams . We are all so lucky to still be able to play this great game. Every year I wonder if I will be fortunate enough to get one more season. And, I know that the day will come when, as the song says, Boom, is was over, just like that !

When I started the 38 Pirates in 1999, I think, maybe 2000, it became a point of pride that our record improved for seven consecutive years.

It helps when you start out at 2-19.

Even so, Mike Kane, Ron Smaka, Bob Yakatan, Marc Tryon, Pat DeVaney -- others -- fondly remember that season as the one when baseball came back into our lives. Maybe our best year of baseball ever, even at 2-19.

It's not really about the wins and loses.

(Sorry to be posting so much; I'll stop!)

Congrats to the Twins
You are still playing in a competitive league and enjoying this great game.
