The Twins defeated the Pirates at New Scotland last night 20-8. Scoring in each of the first 3 innings, the Twins jumped to a 7-0 lead, but the Pirates came back with 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th, with the big blow being a bases loaded single off the bat of Jim Ansel. Motivated by the Pirates challenge, the Twins banged out 10 hits in the top of the 5th to put the game out of reach.
For the Pirates, Fred Pidgeon hit a long single that looked like it was going to clear the left center field fence in the second. Twins leaders were Lee Madsen and Ben Phillips with 3 hits each and John Newman with 4 hits.
