Damn Yankees best the Cubs 8-2.

Pitching and defense wins games.
The Yankees starter, John Weber out pitched Cubs' starter Mike Girard, surrendering just 2 runs, while scattering 10 hits,
walking none and striking out 2. The Yankees defense did have 3 errors on the night, but made the rest of the plays and turned
3 double plays in the first 4 innings. Meanwhile the Cub's defense struggled for the second straight game, committing 3 errors of their own
that led to 5 unearned runs.

Paul Post, Tim Brown, and John Corrigan all had 2-hit games for the Yankees, while Ron Lochner was 3 for 3, and Girard was 2 for 3 for the Cubs.

The Cubs will need to clean up their act quickly if they hope to contend with any of the top 3 teams coming down the stretch.
Next up: the undefeated Whiz on Thursday night at the Schenectady Babe Ruth field on Golf Road.

Giants beat Whiz last night, 4-1.

I think we're going to do this to each other all season long until there's one team, with two black eyes and a cracked rib, still standing.

Fun.
