Jimmy Preller hit a 2-out single in the bottom of the 7th, driving in pinch runner Dan Maguire with the winning run as the Whiz Kids rallied to beat the Yankees Tuesday night. Mike Kane and John Weber were locked in a 0-0 tie through 4 innings. The Whiz took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 5th when Kane reached on an error, Bob Holmes sacrificed him to 2nd, and Gene Hallenbeck singled him home. The Yankees tied it in the top of the 6th when Craig Miller walked, and he scored on a fielder's choice and an error. They expanded their lead to 4-1 in the top of the 7th when Joe Hervieux singled home Rich Royka who had walked, and Pat Alston, who had singled. Hervieux advanced on an error, and Weber singled him home. Joe Burns struck out the next 2 batters to retire the side. In the bottom of the 7th, Brian Musella reached when he was hit by a pitch. Ed Klopfer was put in as a pinch runner, and he moved to 2nd on a fielder's choice. Kane singled him home, cutting the deficit to 4-2. Kane reached 2nd on another fielder's choice, and Hallenbeck singled him home, and he continued to 2nd on an errant throw. It's now 4-3. Reggie Flansburg singled home Hallenbeck to tie things up at 4. Maguire, running for Flansburg, reached second on a wild pitch, and Preller's single completed the comeback!
