In keeping with the CDMSBL tradition of giving back to our community we have decided it is time to organize another baseball equipment drive to be donated to a yet to be determined worthy organization. If you have any old (or new) equipment I will be collecting it over the course of the season. Items such as gloves, bats, balls, cleats and catchers gear are the type things we are looking for. If you have any other baseball related items that I didn't mention that might be of use to someone I'll take that too.
I will be contacting managers in the 45's and 55's to ask their players to bring items to games I know I will be attending when they play the 55 Yankees or 45 Red Sox. That begins tomorrow night when the Yankees and Americans square off. As for the other divisions I will be contacting managers/GM's and make my way around the league to be at at least one game for every team.
I recall many years ago our league donated lots of equipment to a couple from western NY who I believe were sending it to kids in another country. Mike Hart was involved and could probably shed more light on that. I'm not in a position to do that but I think we could make a difference in some kids lives. So start digging in your basement, attics and trunks of your cars. I know most of us have something to give. I would also take suggestions as to worthy groups and bring them to the rest of the BOD so a decision can be made. I know recent HOF inductee QJ (Quentin Jensen) is very active with youth baseball in inner city, maybe you could weigh in with some thoughts Q.

There are so many inner city baseball leagues all over NYS that are looking for any and all equipment to give to the youth. The more stuff we donate gives a child the opportunity that we were given when we were young. Anything helps rather then throw it out donate it. Whether its kids from the inner city or kids over seas it will be like gold to a young player.
