At our game today against the Blacksox there was a collision at first base when Donnie wix was trying to field a ball, Don and the runner collided Don went down and hurt his leg and we needed to call 911 he was taken to the hospital. Please keep us updated on his status we would appreciate it. thoughts and prayers to Don and hope everything works out ok. Lex
Lex thanks for your concern. Usually I can get up after a few moments and continue playing, not today. After hours in the hospital, and several shots of pain medication, x-rays and CT scans showed no broken bones, unfortunately soft tissue damage is quite extensive and an orthopedic appointment will determine just how much time I will spend on crutches and hopefully away from the OR. Like I say to myself play hard, play hurt if you must but always give your all to this great game.
Don no nobdy gets up off the canvas like you buddy. Tell Dr. Abraham I said see you soon. I really hope to see you on the ballfeild soon brother. Your the warrior that inspires me! mane
Don Wixon is a baseball lifer, and I have never teed it up against anyone who plays a tougher, smarter game than the real "Donnie Baseball".I've had deep tissue contusions and sometimes felt would of been better off with a break.
That being said,
I remember a trip to Dons house back when this league first was getting off the ground.Little bbq, some suds, and some laughs. I happened to meander my way into one of the wings off the main house. Dusty,a little damp, and definitely darker than you feel comfortable with.As I wandered through a few rooms,I saw a long, tall cabinet, finished in fine teak.
As I was about to open this piece,I heard a voice ask if I was looking for anything.HE had appeared behind me,and I was thunderstruck. I mumbled something about appreciating antiques. He told me well, might as well have a look. As Don opened the doors, the low light in the room immediately glanced off silver pieces of varying length and size, all connected to leather by rivets. This was a collection of strap on braces the likes of which normal people will not soon see. Don closed the cabinet quietly and looked into my eyes, telling me to please keep his secret safe.
No more great warrior!
Your story from henceforth shall be told far and wide, around every dugout and cooler session held.
Hail Maximus!
Don - The game wouldn't be the same if you didn't hit the ground at least once. And it wouldn't be the same if you didn't get back up and dust yourself off!
Looking forward to seeing you back behind the plate.
Just saw this! I hope that you heal up soon! I need to check, but I'm hoping I won the over/under on the "Wixon Hitting The Ground" pool!
Need you around - You're a good man.
