In what turned out to be one of the most beautiful nights for baseball of the season last night, the Twins defeated the Cardinals 14-2 in 5 innings. Amassing 17 hits, the Twins saw every player in the lineup produce at least 1 hit and everyone scored. The Twins collected 3 doubles (McCarthy, Allen, Saidenburg) in the process and got another stellar performance from pitcher John Newman who allowed 3 hits and 1 earned run.

Charles"Crazy Legs"Freer used his outstanding speed to turn his left center gapper into a standup triple in the 5th for the Cardinals.
