Between an afternoon rain shower, and the evening storm that walloped the area, the Whiz Kids and the Cardinals opened their seasons at the Rotterdam Babe Ruth field Friday night. Mike Kane spun a 7-inning 3-hitter with 6 K's, and the Whiz scratched out single runs in the 1st, 2nd,, 5th, and 6th innings to win 4-0. Kane helped himself by going 3-4 with 2 runs scored. Greg Mangione contributed 2 hits to the winning cause. Good luck to Jerry Hawkins and the rest of the Cards. They will be tough to beat.
