Mike,
You can ASK ANYTIME.
10/31 is the deadline to INFORM the GM of your departure, after that the GM can decide as he/she so chooses whether or not to release you...
And even then, you can appeal to the division commish and subsequently to the board of directors if need be as the final decision maker in process if it goes that far...
Easy enough to make a case for extenuating/extraordinary circumstances which delayed your asking for such...
Thanks, Mark. Steve, that is a gas! Just wondering, considering all my options. Getting released to join another team in the 55's?????? Maybe looking to play in the 30's, if the 55's thing doesn't work out????? Staying with the Marlins?????
I've gotten the discussion moving. I have made a statement to the BoD, to be read at the next meeting (Thursday night). I basically am exercising my rights that are afforded me by this wonderful organization that we are a part of. I recommend that all of you do the same.
Sorry Mike, Players of your status must give at least a one year notice if they wish for a release from their current team. After review of the release from the board members of the 55s you are then allowed to enter the draft, and thus become a free agent to play for a team that is not of your choice!! If you decide that you want to be released from the new team that was picked for you then their is a 2 year penalty at this point to play for that team until you can submit a new release!!!!!
Why not think about limiting the number of innings pitched to 2 or 3 innings per man. That way, no 1 pitcher can take over a game.you get more guys involved in the game, and a chance to let some other folks pitch. I can understand the frustration and empathize with the feeling of knowing you will be lucky to get a hit off any of the better pitchers. That's no fun, why, that's no fun at all. I think a 2 inning limit would do exactly what you desire to achieve, a better chance for better games.more strategy, more maneuvering of players, more fun results, and better played games.still fun, but still competitive also.
Who knows, maybe some of you managers can even begin to look like you know what your doing, instead of sitting on your big fat asses and just plugging in a pitcher who everyone knows is probably gonna dominate the other squad and fairly guarantee a victory. doesn't take much to make those moves.
How about making it a rule you have to bat 10 guys, 12 guys? Again more guys involved, little more strategy involved.
I gotta tell ya,these are easy problems to rectify..Next time don't bother me unless you got to go to the hospital,or you are on fire. Peace
Notes you paying attention? Make sure you write this down,I don't wanna have to repeat myself.

I'm envisioning said "statement" to be scribbling, doodling, and some artwork on about 37 pages of loose leaf paper lol.
I won't be there tonight, have to be a decent husband once in a while, but look forward to reading up on it and will be at the next meeting. Someone bring ice for Bobby Noto's fingers.
