Why it was unplayable is because the Schenectady Park Commission said it was. It is out of the league's control. We all wish, I am sure, that it wasn't so. I was in contact with the person in charge of the fields late last week to confirm dates of use and it was a go until midmorning today. Their call not ours. SAT was available but miscommunication between the Twins and Yankees left us with one game still to be played to determine semi-final opponents.
Congratulations to the Giants on the win. I don't think anybody wanted to tangle with the (red, hot, dangerous) Peppers in a single-elimination game.
I was happy to see the Peppers enjoy a second-half turnaround this year. Suddenly, they kept winning games. Lot of talent over there, and good gloves, with foundational pieces for future success. I hope they can stay together and build on this moving forward. Good for Mike Hart, good for the Peppers, good for the league.
Not trying to stir the pot here, but there was no miscommunication between the Twins and Yankees. The Yankees never responded to the emails sent out by league administration until late afternoon, a few minutes after the game was finally cancelled . Two of our players went to B Diamond to check the condition and the pictures they took showed it to be dry but not prepared. It is what it is.
