On a night, at New Scotland, that looked like it wasn't going to happen, the Yanks and Platinum Marlins got together on a beautiful night for a game. At 4:00 pm everyone thought that a big area of rain was about to engulf the Voorheesville area. At 4:30 pm, the storm disappeared, and the sun came out. If you listened close enough, you could hear the big guy upstairs chanting "let them play, let them play, let them play!" The Marlins got a great pitching performance from Wayne Newcomb, who pitched around some spotty defense, and allowed the Fish to sprint out to a 10-3 lead after 5 innings. When Wayne got tired, in the 6th, the Yankees rallied and pulled to within 10-7. With the outcome now in doubt, the Marlins rallied and put 3 runs on the board in the top of the 7th to extend the margin to 6 runs, at 13-7. Mike Girard pitched a very quick 1-2-3 bottom of the seventh, and the Marlins had their 7th victory of the season against 8 losses. With one more game (tonight vs the Twins) the Marlins aim is to finish at .500 for the regular season and secure 4th place in the standings, heading into Monday's playoff games.
