John Cortese went 2-3 with 4 RBI to back the 3-hit pitching of Mike Kane as the Whiz Kids defeated the Peppers 10-1 Friday night. Brian Musella (2-3, 2 r) led off the bottom of the first with a single, stole second, and scored on a single by Greg Mangione. Cortese drove in Kane (1-3, r) with a fielders choice. Mangione (2-4, 3 r) scored on an error. The Whiz added 5 runs in the third as Cortese had a 2-run single, and Anthony Torre had a boomin 2-run triple. The Peppers got their run in the fourth when Paul Cerone scored on a single by Tom Japour. It was the first earned run off of Kane (3-0, 3 CG) in 21 innings. The Whiz finished the scoring with two runs in the sixth, as Cortese added a run scoring single. Hats off to manager Mike Hart and the Peppers for playing hard 'til the last out, and making some fine defensive plays.
