CDMSBLers Take Series With Decisive 11-0 Victory

The CDMSBL broke out the big bats and dominated in the pitching and defense categories to take the series against the BABL in an 11-0 win on Saturday.

The Massachusetts boys got the first two hitters on with back-to-back singles off CDMSBL starter Jerry Solomon; but Solomon induced a popup to the catcher, a fly ball to centerfield and a ground out to third to close out the first inning.

CDMSBL took advantage of two walks and three hits including a loud ground-rule double by 33+ Dirtbag Joe Teson and led 3-0 after one inning. Solomon would keep the BABLers scoreless for 4 innings - he scattered six hits and didn't allow a walk (but did hit a batter) and struck out four.

In the bottom of the fourth, Rob Bialkowski (33+ Bears) led off getting hit by a pitch and Jim Bonaparte (33+ Indians) followed with a single. Mike Ferraro (33+ Yankees) singled home Bialkowski and 45+ Brewers' first baseman Scott Steltz hit a bomb over the RF fence for a three-run homer and the New Yorkers led 7-0.

Jim Bonaparte replaced Solomon on the mound and pitch two innings walking two and hitting a batter, but a double play and a strikeout got him out of a jam in the sixth and the CDMSBLers kept the shutout intact.

Foote led off the fifth inning with an RoE and Bialkowski would later single him home for an 8-0 lead. CDMSBL would score two more in the sixth when Steltz and J.J. Jeanette would reach on a walk and single (Jeanette stole 2B later) and Jerry Solomon singled both home and the New Yorkers led 10-0.

New York added their final run in the 8th inning on a homerun from Foote and Bialkowski closed out the game for the three-inning save - walking two, hitting a batter, allowing one hit while striking out 5.

A special thanks to Tom Ingersoll of the BABL for a great series and a great time and another special thanks to Don McComb for providing a top-notch field to play on.

Outstanding offensive numbers include:

Darren Foote (33+ Bears) - 3-for-5, 2B, HR, 3 R, 4 RBI, SB, RoE
Jay Teson (33+ Dirtbags) - 2-for-5, 2B, R, RBI
Dean Rowe (45+ Brewers) - 2-for-5, RBI
Rob Bialkowski (33+ Bears) - 3-for-4, 2B, R, RBI, HBP
Jim Bonaparte (33+ Indians) - 2-for-4, R
Mike Ferraro (33+ Yankees) - 1-for-2, R, RBI, 2 BB
Scott Steltz (45+ Brewers) - 1-for-3, HR, 3 RBI, BB
Jerry Solomon (33+ Padres) - 1-for-4, 2 RBI
Mike Gennett (33+ Bears) - 2-for-4

All pitching lines are excellent as the New Yorkers completed a shutout:

Jim Bonaparte (33+ Indians) - 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 2 BB, 1 HBP, 1 K (W)
