The Whiz Kids shut out the Marlins 4-0 Tuesday night behind a 5-hitter by Mike Kane. The Whiz Kids broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the 4th on an RBI single by Reggie Flansburg that scored Kane. They added 3 insurance runs in the 6th on a walk to Andy Kramarchyk, and RBI double off the bat of Ed Klopfer, a sacrifice by Brian Musella, and a sac fly from Dennis Buckley that plated Kane. The Marlins' biggest threat came in the 7th. A 2-out double by John Corrigan was followed by a single from Jim McQuade, but Kane got the next batter to hit into a fielder's choice. The fast paced game left plenty of time to catch up with friends during the cooler session.
Here's to a speedy recovery for Wayne Newcomb, who injured his foot in a 45+ game. Hope to see you back on the field soon.
