Due to last week's rainouts, Monday's game between the Whiz Kids and the Yankees was the season opener for the 55+ Division. The Whiz Kids won 15-5 to give Mike Kane the victory in his divisional debut. Kane allowed 2 earned runs, struck out 6, and started 6 putouts of the 1-3 variety. The game was close until the 6th, when the Whiz batted around, scoring 9 runs, the big hits being a 2-run double by Anthony Torre, and a 2-run single by Kane. Leading the Whiz were Dennis Buckley (4 runs, 2 SB), Reggie Flansburg (3-4, 2 RBI), Kane (2-4, 2 r, 2 RBI, 2 SB), and Torre (3-4, 5 RBI). The Yankees were led by Tim Brown (2 r), and Steve Van Gelder (3-3, 2 RBI). It was good to see Matt Kelly back on the field for the Yankees!
