I feel compelled to try to share the anxiety and emotions our Albany Capitals just experienced at our 4rth game in 3 days. I'll start in the 7th inning being down 7-4 knowing we only had time to play about 2 innings before the 3 hr time limit and having to squeeze in our 14 th batter Bobby Hiller ( by tournament rules or you forfeit). Ok, 7 th inning with 1 out down by 3, Lex Herrlett beats out a grounder to short with lightning speed. Mark Marshall doubles getting Lex to third. Johnny Weber puts the ball in play with a sac groundout to short scoring Lex. Tony Parella singles scoring Mark and Darnell Baker doubles scoring Tony. We are at 7-7 but to make matters worse and 18 minutes to play we allow them to score 2 more runs!! It's 9-7 and our first batter Artie Johnson( LIMSBL) gets on by catchers interference , and then Pat Alston hits a massive triple scoring Artie! I come up with a single scoring Pat and we are tied. Now we put in Mr(I refuse to give up this kids game)Bob Hiller as our 14 th batter or all this is lost to a forfeit , and Bobby hits the single of his life! Now with men on first and second Mr ( I love this moment) Lex Herrlett rips a shot down the third base line scoring myself in walk off fashion. We are now at a record of 2-2 and hope to seal the playoff birth with a win tomorrow afternoon.
