I regret to report that Last At Bat author Mark Donahue has been hospitalized with kidney stones and diverticulitis. While exploring further, it was found that he also needs two stints to generate proper blood flow to his heart. He is scheduled for surgery Aug. 20.

Therefore, the tryouts scheduled for Aug. 22 at Central Park's baseball fields have been postponed indefinitely.

I thank the many of you who have signed up to participate in this venture and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Mark is a one of the most caring and considerate people you could have hoped to meet. After he recovers, we will reschedule, but not likely until the spring.
