Perhaps as well-matched as any two teams in the 45+ Division, the Blue Jays and Shasky's met for the first of two games this season. These two teams always seem to play tight, competitive games. Today continued that trend.
The teams traded single runs in the first, then again in the third. After the Jays plated another in the fourth, the Shasky's took their first lead of the game with two in the bottom half. The fifth saw two for the Jays, countered by one for the Shasky's , and the game was knotted 5-5 after 5. The Jays found their decisive rally in the top of the sixth, as the first 4 batters of the inning scored. That would be it, as the next inning and a half went quietly and the Jays won 9-5.
The Shasky's threw two lefties -- Jim Tesoriero and Dennis Lane, while the Jays threw two righties -- Rich Garbarino and John Weber, who got the win in relief. Ten different Blue Jays had base hits, with Mike Aiello providing the biggest clutch swings and RBI.
Blue Jays even their record at 1-1 and next meet the defending champion Giants next Saturday.
