After 3 great games played by the Whiz Kids and Cardinals , the Cards came out on top to face the unbeaten Giants. The whiz Kids took game one on Friday night ,but the Cards came back Monday and Tuesday to win the series. Both teams played with injured players ,and like the energizer bunny, they kept going. I don't have the books for stats and highlights, but I can tell you this. Chris Ironman Abrams went 18 or 19 innings for the whiz Kids and kept the Cards in check most of the way.Chris, what a job buddy. To Jim Porter and rest of the Whiz Kids, hats off fellows , great job this year. Anyone that was there knows who got key hits and made great plays on both teams. If you want to add the info. to this post, please be my guest. With failing eyesight ,please excuse any type O's ...
Yes, Harold, it was a an exciting series. Each game could have gone either way. The Cardinals bent, but didn't break, stopping our rallies with clutch pitching and great defense. It seemed they scored after every time they held us at bay. Congratulations to Jerry Hawkins and all of the Cardinals. You deserve to move on to the Finals. Best of luck. As for the Whiz Kids, I couldn't be any prouder of their determination and hard work. One of the toughest teams I've had the pleasure to manage. Half of the team is comprised of new members, and we jelled as the season progressed. As for Chris Abrams, he went 19 innings in 5 days. He deserved a better outcome. I can't think of anyone else that would have the competitive spirit to ask for the ball for each game. Thanks for a great season Whiz Kids. Jim Porter
