CDMSBL is busy right about now. The 55 division's entering week two of its playoffs. The 33 Division saw a flurry of season-ending makeups last week, with playoffs starting tomorrow. One might think, then, that the 45 Division would be coasting lightly along. One would be wrong. Today's lineup includes double headers for more than half the 45 Division teams. These must be the dog days of summer!
The schedule at New Scotland began today with a 9:15am match between the Yankees and Blue Jays, their only regular season meeting this year. The Jays went up early with 2 in the first and 4 in the third. Yankees got single runs in the 4th and 5th. Jays added 2 in the sixth, ending the scoring for an 8-2 Blue Jays win.
For the Blue Jays, Mike Surin threw a complete game, scattering several singles and a couple walks, aided by a strong defense. Tom Bradley led the offense with two doubles, and Pat Alston bombed a 2-run HR over the fence in left.
The Yankees played well and threatened almost every inning. A timely hit here and there and this game could have been much tighter.
Blue Jays test their 8-5 record next week against the Bombers, while the Yankees regrouped to test their 8-5 record against the Braves in game 2 of their doubleheader.
