55 Division Playoffs Round 1: Whiz Kids 4, Peppers2

Blaise Agnew hit a 2-run triple to give the Whiz Kids a 3-2 lead, and Chris Abrams made it stand up as he fired a 5-hitter Tuesday night. The Whiz Kids had taken a 1-0 lead in the 4th on a walk to Brian Musella, a stolen base, and a single by Reggie Flansburg. The Peppers went ahead 2-1 in the top of the 5th on an error, a hit batsman, A Mike Hart single, a sac fly by Bill Gannon, and another error. In the bottom of the frame, Dennis Buckley reached on an error, and 1 out later, Anthony Torre reached on a fielder's choice. Agnew followed with his shot, just inside the 1st base line. They added an insurance run in the 7th on a walk to Harry Ferguson, a stolen base, and a sac fly by John Cortese. Congratulations to Mike Hart and the rest of the Peppers on a fine season. The Whiz Kids begin the best of 3 semifinals tonight vs. the Cardinals at New Scotland. Game time is 5:45. Jim Porter Whiz Kids

hat's off to jim porter and his whiz kids. chris abrams was cool on the mound, mixing speeds and pitches and throwing strikes, making him a devil to hit.
and the kids' lineup features good speed at the top and hitters throughout. it was tight game for seven innings. the whizzers will be formidable for the
next rounds' foes. should be good games.

a hats' off, too, if i may, to the peppers: everybody hustled, played smart ball, and had terrific attitudes. last year, we had three wins, this year, five, with
several close losses. not world beating figures, not yet, but on the horizon, the sun's rising.
