After two poorly played games last week in losing a doubleheader to the Bombers and Black Sox, the Braves bounced back with an 11-9 win over the Reds on Sunday at New Scotland. The Braves offense came alive with 14 hits against the always good Reds pitching staff. The defense corrected last weeks defensive fiasco with solid defense, highlighted by a diving stop of a line drive toward the middle by 2nd baseman Rob Briscoe and a sliding catch in foul territory after a long run by left fielder Greg Gougler. Mark Denicola went the distance for the win with another gutsy performance. He finished the game in spite of some bruised ribs sustained in a home plate collision in the 5th inning.
This was the third "A" division game for the Braves in the past 4 weeks. I'm really proud of my guys the way they played through this tough stretch in the schedule.
Next up for the Braves is the Yankees on Saturday at Satellite.
