"Finding the plate" proved to be difficult for Peppers pitchers, and consequently easy for the opponent, as the Damn Yankees roasted the Red Hot Peppers in a five-inning shortened game Tuesday night at New Scotland. Four of the first five batters were either walked or hit by a pitch, and the first six crossed home plate as the Yankees scored early and often. Mike Aiello and John Weber led the way offensively with two hits apiece and Mark Tryon crushed a long double as the Yankees weaved 18 players in and out of the game for their second win of the season. Billy "The Kid" Kervan was on his "A" game as he spun five innings of one-run ball, scattering five hits, striking out three, and he didnt walk a single batter. He was backed by an unassisted double play at second base by Jim Ansel, and a defense that committed just one error behind him. Leading the way for the 0-2 Peppers were Ron Collins and Don Ball who each ripped a double and single in their only two at bats. Artie Gianakos stroked a solid single to right for the other Peppers hit.
