Sad news ...

While we all enjoy the game CDMSBL provides for so many of us, we need to remember that the umpires are an intricate member of our organization. Without them, after all, we have no game.

So, as we get to know the umpires, it becomes apparent that we all share a common interest as well as a mutual respect on and off the field as well. That's why it saddens me to report that Ralph La Duke, who is the father of umpire Mike La Duke, passed away at age 87 this past Sunday in Rotterdam.

Mike has been the main caretaker for his mom and dad as they had entered their twilight years. Mike's mom passed away just last year. Mike is one of the most respected people associated with CDMSBL, the Schenectady Baseball Umpires Organization and to those fortunate enough to call him friend.

To Mike, my deepest condolences on the passing of your father. May he live in eternal peace and his legacy carry on for you, your family and his friends.

God bless,
Jim Konstantakis

Mike,
My deepest sympathies....obviously it's been a tough year but both your parents are reunited and in GOD's care. May they rest in peace.
