The New York Giants and New York Yankees (shades of 1962(?) World Series) played a very competitive three games series. The Giants were the survivors, winning two out of three. It looks like odd numbered years (2009, 2011, 2013) are kind to the Giants and to Bobby Bolt, who again captured the MVP honors (2011 & 2013) after winning a game last week, pitching very well today to keep the tough Yankees at bay and also mixing in a bunch of base hits and walks throughout the entire playoffs.
There were no superstar performances by either team. Both teams fought for the runs they scored. My mantra all year has been pitching and defense.................pitching and defense! That's what made all these games close and competitive.
Darrin Ambridge was notable for the Yankees. Darrin pitched a complete game on Saturday to beat the Giants and then came back today give up very little to the same Giants lineup. Very impressive.
Personally, I'd like to thank all my guys for a great year and for splitting time on the field without it being a "thing"(all you managers know what I mean) and especially to Jimmy K for putting in so much time and effort in at every practice and every game and also for ALL of the field maintenance he volunteers for (we gotta get you a girl, brother).
