Yep, I ditto ALL of that... EVEN what Girrard said! I could list each and every guy on the team as the Giants are a true team and as Mike said, the best all year long... And showed exactly why today... Congrats Stevie, Jimmy, Wayne, Bob, Doug, Jan, Mario, Mike L, Jim, Tony, Pete, Mike K, Paul, Ronnie, Carlos, and Mark... But uh yeah guys, can you get the webmaster checked as he put that you were the 2014 Champs and uh yeah... Lex and I have no intention of just letting you to win it EVERY year though! Nor the Labor day tourney either! Just enjoy this one as again, you earned it right from day one and then won it ALL on the last day when it mattered most...
NY GIANTS ~ 2013 CDMSBL Champions!
-- Edited by Marcus Aurelius on Sunday 29th of September 2013 08:00:40 PM
Giants showed why they were the #1 seed today and why they are the toughest lineup 1-10 in the league. Their 8-9-10 hitters are any teams 3-4-5 hitters! Not an easy out in the lineup! Hats off to Steve and the rest of the Giants on a great year , today with timely hitting and some miscues defensively by us they took advantage of everything. While not making many errors in the field themselves! They showed why they are CHAMPIONS! Hard to pick out any one player on their team because they all contributed and played outstanding! Congratulations!
Congrats to the Giants on their championship in 2013. It is nice when the team that plays best all year gets the trophy at the end of the year. You guys were almost impossible to beat all year. It is going to take some real off-season magic to take that trophy back. Great hitting from top to bottom; deep pitching staff; and solid defense spells winning baseball almost every time! Congrats again! Enjoy the year knowing that you were the best!
Thanx Lex and Mike As you both know, there was no easy road this year for anyone. The way the Yanks came back to beat the defending champs in the bottom of the 7th and advance to the finals was a testament to your character. Mike and his Marlins are perennial champions - win or lose. The Reds? Damn, too many superlatives for THAT team, too. When Ron Massaroni doesn't get on the bump in the semis, you KNOW that is one loaded pitching staff.
Talk about no easy outs in a lineup, Dunham is hitting 10th and hit, what, .500 this year for the Yankees? Caruso gets ejected and John Sheehan comes off the bench cold and whacks a HUGE sharp single to right-center.
And you, Lex, one of the best competitors in all of CDMSBL. Pitch back-to-backers against the Marlins, and hit the ball throughout the entire playoffs. Play a stellar CF. Steal bases ...
We were lucky, too, that Steve got healthy enough just in time. He managed the team all season, coached third in crutches and played only a few innings the last 2-3 weeks of the season, then performs the way he did in the playoffs. I mean, WOW! Just freakin' WOW!
But at the end of the day, you reflect on the competition, which is intense and gut-wrenching, yet, in a sorted way, loads of fun. Then you realize the comaraderie is even better.
Thanx again Lex and Mike for the kind words. The target is now officially square on our backs again. The winter can't go by soon enough - not just for the baseball, but to also pop a frosty after the games.
I would like to congratulate the Giants for winning the championship today. But I would like to thank my team for playing a great series also. I am very proud to say Iam the manager of the Yankees. The Giant our one class act. Hats off to them. Darrin and Lex l could not ask for Three better pitched games. Rich Royka great hitting. I would like to apologize to my teammates for being tossed out of todays game. I wish you all a safe winter and will See you all next year.
The one person I forgot to thank for his gusty perfornance on one bad leg was Dean Little. The biggest shout out should go to our fans. My wife, (Donnie's honey)Laurie, Lex's and Mark's wives. And even Jack's wife made an appearance. And last but not least Mr. RUETTER. I would like to thank each and everyone of you for your support not only during the playoffs but all year long.
Congrats to both teams on a great series and great seasons overall.
As far as getting tossed goes Rick the common consensus among the spectators is that he tossed you too quickly .... especially in a playoff game and even more so in game 3 of the championship series.
That same ump blew a call earlier in the game at first base that went in your favor and against the Giants.... and we don't even need to discuss that same guys' strike zone in game 1 yesterday. I don't care if he is consistent these guys have no right to alter the strike zone .... no more than they do to declare that we are playing with 2 outs per inning versus 3.
John Reel watched it all with us and we will be requesting specific umps for the playoffs / finals next year.
