It's a perfect day for baseball at New Scotland. A confident Yankee team hopes to follow their game one win with a series and championship clincher. A determined top-seeded Giants team starts the morning hoping to play two.
Home team Yankees throw Herrlet. Visiting Giants counter with Lounello.
Giants take a 1-0 lead in the first on a couple hits and a Yankee error for an unearned run.
In the bottom half, Lounello strikes out two and gets a pop up for a quick inning.
In the second, Giants load the bases with no outs, but Herrlet strikes out two before Bob Bolt singles home the Giants second run.
I'll update as we go along, so check back if you like (and have nothing better to do this morning!).
Giants go quietly in order in the 3rd, but the top of the Yankees lineup make things interesting in the bottom. An error, walk, strikeout, and single load the bases. Sac fly ties the score 2-2. Yanks further threaten, but can't push another across. All square heading to the 4th.
Hi Curt, Nice job. If you stay for game 3 if needed, can you send me the winning team picture for the wed site ? Send it to jenkins3x@mhcable.com Thanks Harold
Yankees muster only a single in the seventh. Giants win, 5-2.
Both pitchers went the distance and threw solid games, but Lounello gets the win, getting stronger as the game went. I don't have a scorebook, but his strikeout total must have been notable, with many of them in the late innings.
There will be a Game 3 to decide the 45 crown this year.
