In a dominant fashion as well... Neither of the two games was ever really in doubt, though there was a 10 minute period in the top of the 5th of game 1 when Yankee butt cheeks tightened up a bit after our 9-0 lead was diminished to 9-7 all in one BIG Dodger inning where they had their own sticks working and even still had guys on first and third w/2 outs. But that's when Mikey "The Big Dog" Reutter threw a pinpoint laser to me at second base on an attempted steal that ended the inning and allowed our big bats to get back to work and answer with a 5 spot of our own... The Big Dog also had the at-bat of the game (and maybe the year) in that one as he and Daryl Duncan battled through a 15 pitch AB which culminated in The Big Dog roping a bases loaded, bases clearing double to the gap in right-center and effectively ending any real hopes the Dodgers may have harbored of a real comeback, plus allowing us to unclench the cheeks! Game one ended up 16-9 I think...
Game 2 was basically "The Lex Herlett Show" and will be coming to a town park near you soon enough (otherwise known as New Scotland) ~ and especially if you wear a Golden Marlin uniform... He had the Dodger hitters off balance the entire game and our big bats kept on pounding out hits and runs to support his stellar effort on the hill... We scored three runs with 2 outs in the first before the Dodgers even batted and that kept our string of scoring at least 2 runs in every inning of the series going, which we maintained through until the 5th and the game effectively out of reach with The Lexter in Prime Time form... He was of course also a big part of our hit parade as he led the game off with a smoked liner, stole second, and scored... He's straight outta the baseball 101 textbook and the catalyst to our offensive machine... Final score was 9-3...
Considering we scored 25 runs and had 36 hits, there are plenty of accolades to go around, but they mean very little at this juncture ~ this round was just business, nothing more... Expecting a battle with the big bats of the Marlins as they attempt to match our line-up, and I'm just hoping their anonymous fan dp33 picks them to win as he prolly stays anonymous since his baseball IQ is clearly lacking the lense of reality... Either that or he's just plain stooop-id... Anyways...
Say whatever you want, but I'm digging into the foxhole with the other Yankee studs beside me and liking our chances against the defending champs... A LOT... We have hit stride at the right time and itching for the fight the Marlins are sure to bring after their equally dominating performance over the Royals... The Marlins definitely have a few studs ~ and so do we... In fact, We have an entire team full... So bring it on and let the good times roll!
And bring the trophy with you too, because guess what? We ARE the Yankees... And we're hungry...
