Cubs end regular season with a 5-2 victory over the Reds.

On a night when nobody expected to play due to the weather, the Reds and Cubs moved their game from Bob Moore to Burnt Hills High School, and got in a full 7 innings.

The Reds out hit the Cubs 8 - 3, but Reds pitchers walked 7, to just one walk for the Cubs pitchers in a Cubs 5-2 victory.
Ron Massaroni started and pitched 5 innings for the Cubs, scattering 7 singles and 2 hit batters, while striking out 5, and allowing just one unearned run. Ron got the win for his efforts. Mike Girard came on to pitch the last two innings and gave up one run, on two singles, one walk, and two strike outs. Girard earned the save for his efforts.
Alan Pennick led the way offensively for the Cubs with a long double, a single, a run scored, and a run batted in. Ron Massaroni had the other hit for the Cubs.

Lance Meason drove in the only earned run for the Reds.

The Cubs go into the playoffs as the number 2 seed, at 18-3 on the season. They will face the seventh seed Padres in the first round starting Tuesday, at the C-diamond in Central Park.
