working together. ...

During todays rain delay between the Royals and the Yankees I heard a few things that I thought was just wrong. With it starting to rain the Yankees went ovet to put the tarp on the field when a few of the royals came to help someone in there dugout said don't help. The next comment that was said was while I was racking the field trying to get it ready to play again one of the Royals was just complaining about how bad the field was and I said instead of complaining try helping and he stated you wouldnt help if you were in my shoes. My team would help If we were winning or losing because that is the RIGHT thing to do not stand around and make excuses why we should not play. I would like to thank brad and the few that helped. Sometimes it's not about winning and losing its about helping each other out. I will say I tried to get the field ready because we were winning but I would have helped and made my team help if the shoe was on the other foot. Just food fot thought.

Thanks Mark, that's good to hear, thanks for sharing that...

And I know everyone has a point of view, but I will say this, I just hope yesterday's fiasco at C Diamond doesn't cost us the field(S)... Note the capital/plural (S) as it a complex and also includes B Diamond, which is another good field... And I am now writing this at the behest of a good friend and teammate (Mike Reutter) who is being suspended over the situation as well, which would only further add fuel to the fire... That plus considering I am the one who got us the fields I now feel responsible for answering to the powers that be in Schenectady City Hall as they have already contacted me this am and I am meeting with them later... I'm pretty sure I can work it out w/out too much fanfare, but damn, the whole episode was ridiculous...

It was very easy to see and readily apparent how easily things can spin out of control quickly... Cooler heads did not prevail and while I personally played no part whatsoever in yesterday's shenanigans, it has an effect on both me and my team... I'm just prefacing this to say that because while I am also looking at this through a subjective lens, it is not "that personal" in nature and I was little more than a passive observer ~ and I did NOT like much of what I saw from any side of the triangular equation (Royals, Yankees, or Umpires)...

There's plenty of blame to go around on each end of the spectrum here and rather than pointing fingers, I would simply like to ask our league powers that be simply let me clean up the mess at the field(s) and let by-gones be by-gones, so to speak... Our guy was simply upset that the game got called off when we were in clear control and had an almost sure W in reach when from his perspective we could have easily played the last couple of innings. The soccer match across the street never even stopped and the cricket players never broke stride. Yeah, the cricketers were not officially sanctioned by anyone, but the soccer players were...

Anyways, our guy is appealing being thrown out for simply throwing a water bottle to the ground in disgust at what he saw as an ill-advised choice to call the game off in the top of the 4th with plenty of daylight left, no more rain, and a very playable field in front of him... As the tensions ran high and everyone's competing viewpoints ensued, the umpires vacillating on the call, then even what could be construed as antagonizing only made matters worse...

The indecisiveness involved many elements and again, I am not laying a majority of blame to anyone ~ but simply asking that calmer heads now prevail and this ends here w/out further provoking anyone and unjustly suspending Mikey...

Our guy need not be suspended unless we are to bring up whatever route may be available beyond banning an ump on arbitrer as the one ump could clearly be held in contempt from certain angles in this situation as well... And then where does this ugly cycle stop?

And from an objective viewpoint, some other Yankees and a few Royals were much more vocal as to their opinions too and could have been subjectively suspended, but weren't...

If we were getting stomped we too may have well been praying for rain and using the same delay tactics, and any others available to us... But we weren't, we were doing the stomping, so of course we saw it differently...

It's at least in part the competitive nature of the sport that draws me and most all of us to it, otherwise why else would we even keep score and such...

So I do not believe the Royals were any more at fault then we Yankees or the umpires were... It's really about a 33.3333% split down the line really...

However, that being said, if our guy is suspended and this acrimonious atmosphere allowed to fester, the animosity will obviously only grow... Simply allow the appeal to be heard and take heed of the larger factors in play so that this does not balloon in something more unmanageable... I took my unjust suspension earlier this year without anyone ever even telling me exactly what it was for as nobody seems to have a precise answer ~ other then for general purposes of some construing me to be an a-hole... The irony is that many see me much differently, including myself ~ and my opinion of myself is the only one one matters when I look at myself in the proverbial, if abstract life-mirror...

And I am just imploring to the board and other powers that be at this juncture to please just hear his side of the story before reaching any conclusions as seriously, just let this end here...

The dog days of August are upon us and the parking lot parties are soo, soooo much more fun than the silliness of yesterday, I know not where to begin...

And while not exactly befitting of my pen-name, I'll go a lil more contemporary and say, "Can't we ALL just get along"???

For real...

With that being said....the Giants had a 2 to 0 lead going into the top of the 5th when the clouds opened up.The Giants were the visiting team and when the rain started to hammer us,5 or 6 Giants jumped on the field to help with the plate and mound getting covered.I would personnally like to thank them for their help.Awesome team and a classy bunch of guys.......

Mark
Thanx for the kind words. That truly means more to our GM Steve Lounello and the rest of us than winning. Going into the game, I wasn't sure who the Braves were as a whole. Now I know. Solid ballplayers and class guys as well. It was FUN being on the same field with all of you. We look forward to the makeup game. Good luck the rest of the way.

Yeah, Mikey Ruetter... And can I request that you be one of the guys on the appeal board?
In fact, can I hand pick the board members I want to hear the case?

Really, the ump said to him "you wanna come out here and say that to my face, I'm standing right here"?
Seriously, if that's not antagonizing, then I don't know what is...

And he just threw the water bottle on the ground, not "AT" the ump...
Anyways, yeah, I want my man to have a fair trial, that's all...
