Mike Girard presented Mark Dabney with the funds the league so successfully raised for his grand-daughter on Sunday at New Scotland Town Park. I don't have the exact figure, but I can tell you that the support and generosity exhibited by CDMSBL in times like this shows the goodness and depth of your hearts and souls. I couldn't be more proud to be a part of this baseball family.
I know Mark is extremely humbled and thankful to all of you - not just for the monetary contributions, but for the love everyone has so genuinely expressed.
I had promised to give the team that raised the most money in the 55 Division either a dozen new baseballs or two team bats. The Whiz Kids earned the prize. While that was just my incentive to boost contributions, I don't believe it was necessary. The players in the 55 Division, many of whom have never met Mark, went above and beyond - incentive aside.
Mike Girard handled the 45 Division and is overwhelmingly pleased with those results.
At the end of the day, the funds are just the residual of you all being there for one of our own in a time of deep sorrow and pain.
