The Reds broke open a close game with 4 in the 6th, to beat the Dodgers 7-2, Sunday morning at New Scotland. Mike Altobeli opened the scoring in the Dodgers second, with a bomb to right center for a 1-0 lead. The Reds tied it in the bottom of the 2nd, on a straight steal of home by Joe Careccia with the bases loaded, then took the lead when a hard grounder by Paul Miles was misplayed for 2 runs. The Dodgers cut it to 3-2 in the 5th, when Altobeli sindleged in Kanellis who had doubled to start the inning. The Reds broke it open in the 6th, after Alex Marin and Joe Burns singled to open the inning, 2 fielders choice errors and a single by Chuck Handford plated 4 for the home team. That was more than enough for Reds starter Chris Dunn, who went the distance for the win, surrendering just for hits, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Darrell Duncan was hard luck loser for the Dodgers, as he pitched masterfully but suffered from lack of support from his defense, giving up only 6 hits and 1 earned run. The Dodgers are much improved over last year and are sure to make some noise in the playoffs, as the team nobody will really want to face. The Reds moved to 8-2 on the season.
