As an only original member of our league I have had the ooportunities to play on some very good fields to downright dangerous fields. In the earlier years most fields were consistently good, however with expansion the very good fields have become harder and harder to find. The league with the donation of players from the league have made the Satelite Field from dangerous to very playable and I commend this achievement. The problem today is the secondary fields we have been playing on such as Guilderland JV and a few others are below standard for playing and since the league does not have the authority to fix these fields and by right should not have to be put in that position.
Now, we don't know how our status for using New Scotland Field or Satelite Field will be for next year and this will present a major problem with our leagues if we can't use the fields as we do now. This brings me to the real question I have to all the members of the 45 and 55 divisions. Will you pay $30+ more per man to allow our League Presidents and board to pay the price for good to very good fields. Keep in mind I have met over the years many MSBL players from around the country who pay as much as $350.00 + per man and play on outstanding fields. This also takes the pressure off our league administration in scurying to find alternate fields for makeups, for playoffs or tournaments. Possibly with the extra monies the league takes in they also can subsidize this process.
Please give me your opinions so that our administrators can understand that this alternative is very much available to them.
