The Dodgers moved to 6-3 and extended their winning streak to 5 games with a 9-3 victory over the Blue Jays on Sunday. Kisselburgh started for the Dodgers versus Weber for the Jays.
Dodgers struck first in the top of the first on a Newcomb single and stolen base followed by a Kanellis single. The Blue Jays then loaded the bases with the first three hitters on an error, HBP and a BB and then plated a run on another error leaving the bases loaded with no outs and the score tied. A strikeout, infield popup and a groundout ended the threat and left the score at 1-1 after 1 inning.
The Dodgers then scored four more in the second inning to go up 5-1. Chuck Sohl lead off and was hit by the pitch. A single by Conlin plated the first run .... two errors and singles by Newcomb and Parella plated three more runs to complete the top half of the inning. Jays load the bases again on a couple of hits, a couple of walks and an error and plate another run to cut it to 5-2. Dodgers add one in the third on a Cortese single and a Parella RBI single. Jays answer in the 4th on a single and stolen base and an errant throw on a pickoff attempt from the catcher to 3B. and the score is cut to 6-3.
The Dodgers scored 3 more in the 6th .... Cortese walks, Newcomb singles, Hicks hits a double over the fence (yup - it went over but was tough to see and ruled a 2B) and Parella follows with another RBI on a booming double.
Chuck Sohl had replaced Kisselburgh in the 5th and then left with a muscle tweak and Brett Conlin came on in relief and threw strikes from the very first pitch.
Dodgers were lead by
Wayne Newcomb - 4 for 5, 3 Runs, SB, RBI Tony Parella 3-4, 2B, 3 RBI John Cortese 1-3, BB 3 RUns scored Ralph Caputo - showed up to support the team even though he was unable to play due to an injury .... although he needs some lessons in keeping the book!
