The Golden Marlins recorded their second straight shut out, on Sunday afternoon, with a 10-0 win over the Shasky's.
Jim Ansel was dominant on the mound again, this time pitching 5 innings, giving up just two hits and two walks, while striking out 4. The shut out was complete when Mike Clary pitched in and out of a jam in the 6th inning, and Mike Girard threw a 1-2-3 seventh inning (with the help of a spectacular Web Gem by Ron Lochner at third base).
The Fish took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st on a RBI single from Ron Lochner and a 2-RBI single from Jim Ansel.
Lochner was again in the middle of the action, in the bottom of the 3rd inning, when he laced a bases loaded single that was misplayed into a bases clearing single.
With the Fish comfortably ahead 6-0, in the bottom of the 5th inning, the Marlins rallied for 4 more runs. Bob Coffey led off with a single and Tommie Smith walked. Tom Maney hit into a fielder's choice and Tim Brown followed with a RBI double. With runners on second and third and 2 outs, Mike Girard bounced a double into right center to plate two more runs. Lochner moved Girard to third with his third single of the game, and Dave Mitchell capped the rally with a RBI single.
The 10-0 victory lifts the Golden Marlins to .500, with a 3 - 3 record. The Shasky's drop to 5-2 with the loss.
