Some other feedback i have heard that may be helpful ...... one is to get better fields since we advertise it as "the Capital District's Finest Fields"
Another is to get more out of town teams so we aren't playing the same people we face all season long ..... i know in the 45's we only had one out of town team and after all these years we can almost consider the Maine Indians one of our own teams
I would assume other leagues within a few hours have bulletin boards etc?? .... i would be willing to help try and drum up some more teams.
I will be sending a national e-mail shortly. Through the diligence of Jerry Solomon, Jim Bonaparte, Mark Marshall and others, I think the fields this year will actually fit that bill. I'm hopeful to be able to "pair up" fields resulting in less travel between games.
I'm also pursuing a group rate at the Holiday Inn in Schenectady, and will be meeting with some establishments over there to see if they want to offer a tourney discount for teams replenishing calories and fluids. Most of the fields seem to be on that side of the district anyway.
I have had inquiries from four out of town teams that I hadn't heard from last year so look at that as a good sign. I try to first accommodate those teams that travel, and have the local guys move around a little more since we're the hosts and the tourney benefits the league as a whole.
Tom- Send me some info about the tournaments. I might be able to put together a team or two from the Berkshire Adult Baseball League in MA. I know that there is interest in putting together a team for the 30+ division. Last year, they fielded a team for a tournament over Labor day. They may be interested in the option.
