On another picture perfect Sunday for baseball, the upstart Braves defeated the new look Cougars 9-4 at Satellite field. The Braves jumped in front early when Greg Gougler crushed a triple into the fenceless gap in left. They added two more in the 2nd after 2 walks then a single by Daron McNab, giving them a 3-0 lead. The Cougars came back with a run in the second before the Braves got 2 more in the third on a single by Tony George. In the bottom of the third the Cougars scored 2 more on 2 walks with the bases loaded before Mark Denicola came on in relief with no outs and the bases loaded and shut them down. That would be all the Cougars could muster until the seventh when Eric Sundwall tripled down the line followed by a single by Adam Zefran. It was a tough sun field in center where several balls were lost allowing base hits. The Braves scored 3 more in the fifth and an added insurance run in the seventh. Next up for the Braves are the red hot Reds who are also 2-0 to start the season.
Yeah, baby! Eric Sundwall lives on! Played with him on the Cardinals back in 2000 or so. So glad he's back on the field. Great guy, great competitor. Welcome back Eric. See you Saturday. (I think I heard the tomahawk chant rant from Grafton)! Jim Konstantakis Giants
