45 Reds move to 2-0

The Reds improved to 2-0 by beating the Dodgers, 9-1 on a beautiful Sunday morning at New Scotland. The Dodgers took an early 1-0 lead in the 1st on an RBI single by Nick Kannelis, scoring Wayne Newcomb who walked and stole 2nd to start the inning. That was the only run the Dodgers could muster up against Reds starter Joe Burns, as Joe settled in after a couple early walks. Joe went 6 innings to get the win, striking out 8 and walking 2, while allowing just 2 hits. Chris Dunn came on to start the 7th and sealed the win, striking out 2. Offensively, the Reds put up 8 in the 2nd, to take an 8-1 lead, when the first 10 batters of the inning reached base, including 8 hits. The big inning was started by a Ron McCarthy double to left center, with the big hit being a bases loaded double by Ed Class, knocking in 3. Leading the charge fot the Reds with 3 hits, was Ron Collins, with Mueller, Class, VanWormer, McCarthy, and Ferguson chipping in with 2 apiece. Next up for the Reds are the Braves at 3:30 next Saturday at New Scotland.
