The field is NO different then last year... It sucked then and it sucks now... Any argument to the contrary is just plain stupid... However, BOTH teams have to play on it, hence an "equal playing field," if you will... But digging up the infield and outfield, then re-sodding it (which is what really needs to be done) would cost a small fortune and take time to mature ~ the rollers and such are crappy ideas and a waste of time and energy... Besides, if we really, REALLY don't like it (which I'm confused on how anyone in their right mind possibly could), well, we're all free to go through the appropriate processes of securing fields on our own and seeing if the league will accept them... The 35 fields are much better then last year in general but for some reason the 45's and 55's have chosen to make Sunday a let's hang out in Voorhesville Day, and so it is that we have these fields to choose from... New Scotland is only so-so too as it is over-rated and not nearly as good as a couple of the other fields we use in the 35's, though none are even close to be being "pristine." Just sayin... It is what it is and I for one am just grateful for a place to play and the efforts guys put into giving us one, even if I have had girlfriends that grazed in nicer cow pastures... Plus hey, now Ralphie has another good story to tell and I'd even bet Sue thinks he's a just a little cuter today then he was yesterday...
Errr, or maybe NOT... I might lose that bet... But since he was kinda ugly to start with, well??? I mean he's cool, definitely cool ~ but fugly... Fonzie was ugly too though, so what the hey...
Now that this party is started, Welcome To The CDMSBL 2013 version!!!

to the board members, I want express my concern regarding the satelitte field condition. Playing in our first game of the 2013 season at this field i learned how really rough the field is. My conern that i want to convey is the condition is so bad that somebody could get injuried. As is the case of my follow team mate Ralph Capuato taking a bad hop to the nose. Also the infield dirt is like a beach. It is so loose that it effects your footing. I know the league is looking to maintain good relations with the field owners by doing improvments to the field. My suggestion is to improve the condition of the infield and outfield before installing a fence in the outfield. Having a fence would be nice as it would eliminate the need of me chasing after balls that are crushed and ending up at soccer mom's chair.
I agree with you John. The outfield is very rough, and you have no idea where the ball is going once it hits the ground,I also have heard some concerns over the pitching mound. I really appreciate all the hard work that everyone put into this field. It is much better than it was.
The field is a work in progress. After the work party NO maintenance was done by any team that practiced on it. We'll be doing that. the mound will go back to what it was without the work described at the manager meeting. We are securing a roller for the grass. the IF needs to set up with continued watering . It is now the proper clay/sand mix. With diligence and your patience it'll be good. I want to again thank those that did work on the field and hope others can contribute in pre-game and post game maintenance. Also lets refrain from running this down on the bulletin board as I advised at the meeting all concerns should go through your manager to either me or your commissioner. Jreel
The bad hop that bopped me, was on the infield grass. Very flukey. That's part of the game. Can't blame it on the infield dirt. I think the hierarchy of this league is addressing this on-going dilemma about fields. We need to stop criticizing, be patient and most of all, supportive.
There are two reasons Ralph Caputo is in the CDMSBL HOF. His talent and his class - on and off the field. A true pleasure to be his teammate on the Whiz Kids. JimK
