The Board of Directors is reviewing the Player Movement rule and wants your opinion on the following: Compressing the time a player can exercise free agency. Currently it is from the end of a player's season per his team's schedule, including playoffs, up to Feb 1.
On the Home Page of the CDMSBL Web site is a Poll of the Week question. Please vote. This is your league. If you would, however, please vote just once. We really want an accurate pulse from the membership. While this is called the Poll of the Week, this question will be posted for more than a week to give all of you a chance to think about it before casting your vote.
If there is an option you feel you'd like to express, please post it in reply to this message.

The logic behind this is that most players know whether they are staying or leaving by the end of the season.
It is very tough and maybe even impossible for managers to have to scramble in early February to round up players if a number of their players elect to declare free agency in late January. That was the case last year and a 45 team folded and players who wanted to play couldn't find teams on such short notice.
If the date is moved up managers will have much more time to try and replace players and keep his team going.
guys declaring after Christmas should only be allowed to sign minor league contracts-- yeah, kidding a bit here--but very tough on teams if you don't know the score by December 1--Nov. 1 is pretty late
