Yup .... the managers received an email within the past week or so.
Play in games on labor day - bottom 4 teams play and 2 remain.
Top seed gets bye to the semis - remaining 8 teams play the weekend after labor day.
Saturday all eight play two games ...... winners of first games play each other, losers of first game play each other all on Saturday to end Saturday with two 2-0 teams that are in the semis and two 0-2 teams that are out and four 1-1 teams.
The 1-1 teams are reseeded and play on Sunday ..... winners of game 1 play each other and winner of that game goes to the semis along with the #1 seed and the 2-0 teams from Saturday.
Semis are the following weekend i believe.
This is going to be a great weekend for baseball in the 45's .... #3 seed and #11 seed are set .... outside of that it will be Giants or Marlins for #1 and the rest is wide open.
man John you made an incredibly complicated 45 format sound simple! Complicated or not it will be an exciting few weeks of baseball as we wind down this weekend and then wind up again for the playoffs. the playoffs are uniquely crafted to offer a playoff atmosphere and tounry format to every team. this will be the 4th year of this format and I've enjoyed the games and strategy a manager must employ the most of any CDMSBL playoffs. I especially admire the last semi qualifier . the winner of the final game on Sept 9th. its a tough team that gets thru going this route. you must show depth, team unity , strategy , talent and endurance. Its my favorite game of the year to witness. And by the way I am very pleased with how the 45 season has run. Scott has done a very good job in his first year... juggling the schedule when needed, securing the makeup slots and insuring all games get played.
And there is more parity, as reflected in the standings, than ever before. perhaps thats natural as guys move from team to team looking for their best spots. Or maybe its the unbalanced schedule ,or managers doing a great job recruiting and keeping guys happy and productive. perhaps it he general sense of division cohesiveness afforded by the ability to watch other games on the same field. regardless it al seems to make it work and we've had great leadership from Scott to Harold to the 11 managers. have great finish this weekend and good luck in the playoffs everyone. jreel cdmsbl pres. PS the new 45 division perpetual trophy will be on display this weekend at New Scotland. drop by take a look. a special thanks to John Kalinski for helping me craft this beauty.
