We need changes to the procedures for game cancellations. Games really need to be cancelled at least 2 hours prior to start time. Some people travel long distances to make these games. I arrived at Satellite field at 1:55. There are a few puddles which could have been taken care of in about 20 minutes and the game could have been played. Someone had already started working on it. Instead quite a few guys wasted half of our day driving to Voorheesville for nothing. I've seen fields far worse than this made playable for girls softball games, let alone adult males.
Totally agree with steve...the 230 game at sat field was 100 percent playable with a few minutes of work.Poor organization of how we handle the weather Mark 45er
Guys, we had not one, but TWO fields to take care of. Where do you think the manpower comes from when town employees and school employees do not work weekends? It comes from us.
Personally, and I can also speak for others, that we have gone out of our way in the past to reclaim fields so we could get games in, and weren't even playing in that game or on that field that day. Hell, Pete Westfall even has helped on fields this year and he's not even playing!!!
We bust our collective butts (at least the few of us who do) to get games played. No one wants makeups and the logistics that come with it.
Mike Girard is right: Ask what you can do for CDMSBL, not what CDMSBL can do for you. (Thanx Pres. Kennedy).
I would also suggest you speak to your commissioner, who can impart your concerns to the Board. Posting do little to accomplish goals.
