Tom Maney went 4-4, with 3 runs scored, 2 RBI, and 2 stolen bases to back Jim Konstantakis' complete game performance as the WhizKids defeated the Yankees Friday night. The Whiz got things started in the bottom of the 1st on a single and stolen base by Maney, a walk to Jeff Teats, and RBI's from Ralph Caputo and Billy Smith. The Yanks tied it up in the top of the second on 3 consecutive singles (Eplite, Demers, and Weitz) a sac fly by Matheson, and a single by Woolstom. The 'Kids regained the lead in the 3rd on another single and stolen base by Maney, a walk to Caputo, and a 2-run double from Smith. Tim Brown got the Yanks within 5-3 when he led off the 4th with a single, 2 stolen bases, and scored on a sac fly by Noto. The Whiz answered in their half of the frame on a walk to Konstantakis, a single by Dennis Pierce, and RBI singles by Maney and Teats, and a 2-run double by Caputo. The 'Kids extended their lead with 5 runs in the 5th, with RBI's by Joe Torre, Pierce, and Ed Draves. In going the distance, Jim Konstantakis got the big outs when he needed them, as the hard hitting Yankees collected 12 hits. For the Whiz, it was a balanced offense as 7 players got hits, 9 players scored, and 7 players had RBI's. It's amazing to watch Ralph Caputo and Tim Brown play shortstop. They are 2 of the best in ANY division. Congrats to Ray Demers and the rest of the Yankees on a good game. Jim Porter-WhizKids
