Just want to say that the day was incredible and with all the fathers and sons playing baseball it was an amazing day! I want to say, on behalf of my son Nick as well thanks to TOM SMITH his wife and JIMMY K for all you guys did to help make this a Kodak moment.
I echo these sentiments and want to thank Don Wixon for another great Father's Day at the ballpark! Don not only organized the event again this year but also played in both games. With Tom and Pam Smith again giving of themselves to man the grills and Jimmy K. umpiring both games it was a great day for all the Fathers, Sons and families that came out to watch. I really appreciate being a part of this event and especially appreciate the effort that goes into this day. Thanks guys!!
First of all thank you to all who participated in the F-S games, especially Tom and Pam Smith for their untiring support of this event, Jimmy K. for umpiring both games, John Corrigan, Brian Musella, Vince Koster and Jim McQuade for captaining the teams. Also, Jamie Duncan, who had the field in top shape, and the Town of New Scotland for use of the park. And to the CDMSBL for giving me a budget to work with to make this possible. This event does not happen without their support and hard work. And a thanks to all mother's, for without them their are no sons.
Both games were very competitive contests, with the first game ending on a double play on a fly ball that certainly appeared was deep enough to score the tying run from third except the throw to the plate was in plenty of time to get the advancing runner. Outstanding throw Brian Musella. Also, a catch, somewhat reminiscent of Willie Mays' back to the field over the shoulder one, by Ian Hauser, who also was part of a first time happening at this event, the grandson and son of player's Mark and Joe Hauser. Final score 5-4. The second game ended in a 5-5 tie. Jim's team trailed for all the game until they struck for 5 runs in the sixth inning to go up 5-3. Not to be outdone, Vince's team scores 1 in the bottom half, holds Jim's team scoreless in the top of the seventh and plates one in the bottom of the seventh and final inning.
Thanks to all the returning dads and sons. New faces this year included the Freidman's, Herrlett's, Musella's and Hauser's. Looking forward to seeing you all next year. Mark your calendars for next year's games and the wonderful memories you will carry forward.
