It wasn't Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, but the WhizKids and Americans put on quite a show Wednesday night, with the Whiz coming from behind on 3 separate occassions to win 4-3 in extra innings. Mike LaBarge gave the visitors a 1-0 lead on a leadoff double, and scored on a single by DeMaria. The Whiz tied it up intheirhalfof the inning when Tom Maney was hit by a pitch, stole 2nd, and scored on a sac fly by Billy Smith. The Americans go up 2-1 in the 6th when Jim Wing was hit by a pitch, and scored when John Vidor took one for the team with the bases loaded. Again, theWhiz respond in their half of the frame when Ed Klopfer reached on a fielder's choice, was sacrificed to 2nd by Jim Konstantakis, and scored on a 2-out single by Anthony Torre. In the 8th, Wing scored his 2nd run of the game when he reached on an error and eventually came home on wild pitch. Once more the Whiz rally. Mike Lannon leads off with a single, steals 2nd, and scores on a single by Jim Porter. Jeff Teats follows with a single, and Porter takes 3rd on an attempted pickoff at 2nd. Chris Abrams is intentionally walked to load the bases. Wing, playing 3rd, gets the force at home for the 1st out, then Klopfer singles to drive in Teats with the winning run. Darrell Duncan (2-0) gets the win with 4 innings in relief of Abrams. Ed Rogers went the distance for the Americans, keeping the Whiz off-balance for most of the game. Congratulations to all of the Americans for a great night of baseball! Jim Porter-WhizKids
