At his own initiative Jimmy K. went over the Satalite Field to help the BlueJays and Vets try to get their game in. He worked tirelessly for hours and with the eventual help from BlueJays and Vets got the field in playing condition. He also had a game scheduled for his Giants at New Scotland field latter in the day. He pushed wheel barrels and shoveled and raked dirt for a good 2 hour period.
I and the BlueJays can't thank you enough and I'm sure Brad and the Vets feel the same way. If that is not dedication to the league then I don't know what is.
I heartily endorse the above sentiments. Not only did Jim K (and his makeshift crew of volunteers) put the field in playing condition, but he kept the managers of the second game fully apprised of the situation and, ultimately, provided timely notification of the cancellation.
This is dedication above and beyond the call of duty. We should all aspire to be as dedicated to this league as he is.
Thanx for the kind words guys, but we had a whole lotta help. Dave Latina used his truck to load mud and bring in new dirt, and that saved us a lot of work and time; and Dwight Partridge hopped in his truck and took me over to Darrell Duncan's house to get a wheel barrow and shovels. Darrell still keeps on helping even when he's not there!
Also, Brad Buchn who got there just after I did and started helping to remove the little lake between first and second base.
Then there was Rick Kostar. This guy is in shape!!! Once he got there, which was fairly early, he never put a rake or shovel down.
Those are just three of the many, many guys who chipped in. Just a bunch of old 45-year-olds who want to play ball!!!
Jim, you are modest too... I am in your fan club as well and the league is lucky to have you as you do basically everything and anything that needs to be done for the best interests of the league and all involved... You've certainly made the entire CDMSBL experience more enjoyable for not just me, but many ~ even a few that have no clue... Thanks for all you do... And yeah, keep the buckets handy! Sheesh...
