beautiful day for baseball at New Scotland, Yankees and A's square up for game 1. A's pitching kept Yankees hitting off balance for the first 3 innings. A's score 2 runs early 1 in the 1st with the help of a misplayed pop fly. and 1 in the 2nd. that would be all the scoring for the A's, the Yankees mix of 3 different pitchers held the A's offense down long enough for the yanks bats to come alive. Yanks scratch 1 run in the 3rd and 1 in the 5th. 2-2 tie going into the 6th yankees plate another run taking the lead 3-2. Yankees put another crooked # up in the top of 7 scoring 4. Yankees take game 1 7-2. A's just couldnt get the hitting at the right time to put together any kind of rally hats off to a good team ( combo team of 2 of last years teams) who will battle to the last inning. Herrlett, Duemler, Smitherman, Baker, Alston, Robertson all had 2 hits for the yankees. hats off to the A's centerfielder for an amazing put out with a cannon throw from center on a line drive hit up the middle throwing out a runner going home!
