Gents - I am reaching out again to guage interest in write-ups for games of the week. If managers are willing to participate I'll do a quick pre-game write-up prior to the game and a post-game wrap up if you want.
I'll be out of town from July 12 through July 25 so I won't be able to write anything then but I can start with the week of May 14th if you want.
I will only do this if the team will give me a representative to speak on behalf of the team (preferrably the manager) and I will ask a couple of brief questions for each write-up. Things like starting pitchers, key players, differences from last year, etc. and then I'll write a quick column, submit to both managers for approval and then post to the website.
If you participate I will do the writing. The issues we had last year stemmed from a lack of participation. I would like to give each team a chance at a GotW feature but I will need each manager to participate.
I don't get "Games of the Week".Does this mean that every game is seen and the determination is made that this was the game that was the best? Seems pretty subjective. I think the bulletin board with recaps is sufficient. GOTW seems a bit of a reach..
I agree with this feature for our web site. It allows a perfect chance (yes a subjective, yet knowledgeable reporter) to capture and advertise not only an upcoming match-up but to delve deeper into a team's make-up and progress to that point. Perhaps even a chance to point out beyond the "stars" and stalwarts the players on these teams that may not provide winning hits but do actually exist. something you don't often see or need to know on the BB game reports. And I would go further and say that these GOTW's don't have to be the frontrunners but perhaps two evenly matched teams regardless of their standings. Finally I would like to see a follow up and pics for each GOTW. Though I would guess Rob has his hands full...and more could pitch in to help out if needed. Jreel pres.
