So does anyone know anything about the 25's opening day games yesterday? Did they get them in?
Man I'm excited about this year like no other and feel like this is the first time I'm even slightly prepared going into the year as the whole managing thing is a little more intense then I thought it was going to be and definitely helped me to focus on getting game-ready...
I feel like I'm 12 years old in anticipation of my first little league game of the year...
And I'm a lil jealous the 25's are out on the field and I'm not... But I hope Q got a W!
So do tell if you know...

Not sure about Q, but my Indians today opened up with a 5-1 victory over the Dodgers today in the 25 division.

Awesome! Thanks Jim B ~ and congrats on the opening W as considering you and Q are the only 2 guys I know in the 25's (and one of my new 35 year old players who is on Q's 25 team), heck, I'd be happy if you 2 met in the 25 finals! I know the Cannons might have something to say about that though...

And yeah Jimmy K ~ I hear ya... I think it will all boil down to either getting W's and it seeming like it was all worth it, or uh, yeah, watching L's pile up and wondering what in the hell I was ever thinking... I hate losing, and I mean I HATE it... It's for losers...
Thing is that I picked up a bunch of new guys who while young haven't played in awhile (as in like 15-20 years while) and incorporating them into games while still keeping a focus on getting the W might be a bit tricky with a full bench...

But I think I can pull it off!
And considering we open against the Cubs perennial powerhouse, I think that'll be a good measuring stick for where we are to start the season as I know Jim M and his guys are always ready to play... The Dodgers being w/out JJ (and I am unclear about Shookie ~ just heard rumblings), the Cubbies might well be the team to beat in the 35's and I know they are sure to be solid as always, if a bit aged...

and Jim B (dang there's lots of Jim's, each cool in his own way of course) ~ why didn't you list your 45 team on your sig? ha!

The Cannons might have something to say, 9-0 over the wildcats

The Outlaws led the Reds 2-0 after 2 innings before the game was stopped due to the field becoming unplayable.

Oh hell ~ I just looked at the roster and see they have you and Shookie ~ Q and the rest of the 25's are prolly screwed... You boys just ain't right JJ, you just ain't!

And so wait, you are playing in the 35's this year?

~ Those are for you right there Don Juan Ball ~

Mark(us) man......

There you go with your squigglies again! I don't know how the season will go but I'm already looking forward to next year's banquet! I'll see you on the field when my Reds open up against the new look Highlanders.

Oh wow, I didn't know you were pitching for the Canons JJ! Did you pitch the opening day shutout? Yeah, the defending champs adding you to their roster is gonna be awfully hard to beat, but I'm still gotta root for Q and the Outlaws...
Really gonna miss you in the 35's this year though, but I'm confident you'll dominate the 25's and have just as much fun as you did winning all your 35 Championship's, just don't count the Outlaws out brother, they'll be gunning for ya!

And Don my friend, I too look forward to your banquet day antics as you are a darn funny guy... Also looking forward to playing the Reds as heck man, we get each other 3 times this year! And considering Jimmy B's team was the only team in the league that we beat BOTH times last year, well ~ I'm confident we'll at least win the season series with our upgrades in place... And if I get an opportunity to pitch to you, I promise to throw it nice and slow, right down the middle... Really, I do...

I do...
Seriously...
After all, I want to help your batting average as you go into your twilight years and your hair goes from white to uh, whiter maybe???

Mark - As your former catcher I will say that IF you could throw a pitch right down the middle then your pitching skills must have really improved over the winter. The last pitch you threw anywhere near the strike zone was during our last playoff game against the Cubs at New Scotland. And that ball landed about twenty yards beyond the dumpster behind the left field fence! But I'm glad that your self-help treatment for Post Traumatic Stress has you back on your feet and ready for another season. The league wouldn't be the same without you.

You got me in stitches Don ~ that's funny! But only PARTIALLY correct...
The Cubbies only hit the few strikes I was throwing off of the fence, not over it! Lounello hit one line drive off the fence so hard I thought it was gonna rip it down, but it did NOT go over ~ or thru...
It was Ed Rogers that they hit them over the dumpster back-to-back on. And on his first 2 pitches after I went back to where I belong at short...

And yes, since I am doing some private practice work now and specializing in PTSD, well, I still remember that damn line drive Lounello hit... Not to mention the fact that Bob Bolt shut us Yankees down cold in the 45 Finals ~ that's still eating my at craw too...

This is going to be a MUCH better year for BOTH the Highlanders AND Yankees as we both might just take it all in our respective divisions, ya never know???

But we'll find out soon enough, won't we now???

Thanks Mark for remembering the details of that game. I was trying to forget it. Forgot to mention that I came in with little or no warm ups not that it would have made a difference as the Cubs were hitting the ball all over the place in that game.

Yeah, you're right Ed, they were ~ except when I was hitting them! They are a hitting machine ~ and it it also didn't help that we were making errors all over the field...
But I am not trying to forget that pounding, but rather using it as a motivator to become a better team and build on it as a learning experience...

And uh yeah, we'll see how that plays out as while it's early, we are gonna see them on Saturday early am...
And I can't wait to get on the field as I am chomping at the bit to get it on...
